About Us

Anyone can dance and everyone should!

Dance Teacher and Student

What Sets Us Apart

At our studio, we focus not only on teaching correct dance techniques but also on nurturing creativity and artistic expression in an inclusive, family-friendly environment. We help our students build self-esteem, embrace a healthy lifestyle, and foster growth both on and off the dance floor, whether or not dance is pursued as a career.

We have two studios fitted with professional joint-friendly sprung flooring and dance Marley from Harlequin, UK. Our flooring is of the same quality as that used by the Paris Opera.

Our curriculum covers a wide range of classical and contemporary dance styles, taught with professionalism and passion. We pride ourselves on fostering long-lasting relationships and personal development, underpinned by our core values of inclusivity, respect, and celebration of diversity—making our studio much more than just a dance class.

Joana Melchior

Artistic Director and Co-Founder

In 2019, I established Attitude Dance Studio in Mauritius, aiming to create a supportive space that empowers dancers to thrive. I am excited to share my expertise with the dance community in Mauritius and help dancers of all ages develop their skills and achieve their full potential.

My background in dance includes professional training at the State Ballet School in Berlin and a master’s degree in dance pedagogy from Palucca University in Dresden, Germany. Over a 12-year career, I've performed at renowned venues such as Opera Leipzig and State Theatre Cottbus in Germany, as well as internationally in Singapore and South Korea.

Teaching has always been a significant part of my professional life. I have taught at institutions like the Stamford American International School in Singapore and the Brussels International Ballet School in Belgium. I am affiliated with the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) and hold certifications as a Blackroll instructor and in Acrobatic Arts.

Meet Our Team

Thristan

I've been passionate about ballet since I was 4 years old, training in the Royal Academy of Dance technique before earning a classical ballet teaching diploma and a postgraduate degree in education from the University of Cape Town. I love nature and the creative arts, and I also play the organ. As a dance instructor, I incorporate a wide array of dance styles into my teaching, including classical ballet, contemporary, African dance, and Horton Technique. This variety enriches my students' performances and their overall educational experience. I love what I do, because it allows me to share my lifelong passion for the arts and teaching.

Ballet & Contemporary Teacher

Megan

As a dance teacher specialising in K-Pop and Hip-Hop, I aim to inspire kids and teens through movement. My dance education started at age 5 with Classical Chinese Dance at Ming Tek School, but it was at 14 that I fell in love with K-Pop. This passion led me from dancing in my bedroom to joining the Hip-Hop crew, GryphSteps, during my time at the University of Guelph. Our university team earned second place at the Intercollege Dance Competition in Canada. Now based in Mauritius, I teach both K-Pop and Hip-Hop to young dancers. I have also been involved in various performances with the Shadow Danceland crew and co-choreographed the show "To the Stars" in August 2023.
